The National Farm Security Action Plan fights foreign adversaries and puts America First

JULY 11, 2025 – A recent letter to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, signed by eleven governors, calls for swift action to block foreign control of America’s food supply. The move supports President Donald J. Trump’s and the Secretary’s joint initiative, the National Farm Security Action Plan.

“This Administration has consistently stood up for farmers and American agriculture and made clear that food security is national security,” said Fields of Freedom Alliance. “Foreign countries, like the Chinese Communist Party, have no place in America’s food supply. On behalf of millions of hardworking family farmers and rural workers, we applaud this Administration’s efforts, and the eleven governors, to fight back and put America first.”

In the United States, the food and agriculture sector is designated as critical infrastructure. According to the National Farm Security Action Plan, agriculture, food, and related trades employ more than one in ten American workers and contribute over $1.5 trillion to our annual Gross Domestic Product. The Plan serves as the launching point for USDA to work in further unison with governors, state legislators, and other partners to fully integrate agriculture into the broader national security enterprise over the coming months and years.
