USDA Rural Development to invest $152 million through 19 projects in rural Iowa

AUGUST 9, 2025 – Today, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced a landmark $152 million investment in 19 rural development projects across Iowa, marking a historic commitment to empowering rural communities, supporting family farmers, and enhancing everyday life in America’s heartland.
This investment arrives at a time when Iowa’s farmers and families have faced persistent, years-long economic uncertainty. The USDA is providing $152 million in grants and loans in Iowa to fund projects improving rural water and wastewater systems, street improvements, and rural hospital renovations among others. “Rural communities across America are the backbone of our nation and President Trump is committed to investing in these communities so they continue to be productive and fulfilling places to live for generations to come,” said Secretary Brooke Rollins. “Rural prosperity is truly a national security issue. If our farmers and ranchers do not have the tools and resources to continue to farm, then we cannot feed ourselves.”
Secretary Rollins made the announcement at the iconic Iowa State Fair in front of a large crowd of Iowa farmers, producers, and fairgoers from across the country. She was joined by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, and newly appointed USDA Under Secretary for Rural Development Glen Smith.
“We can make rural America great again with policies and investment that put our families, farmers, and rural workers first,” said Fields of Freedom Alliance. “This historic investment in Iowa will tremendously benefit our rural communities and we applaud the Trump Administration for this commitment to rural America.”
