At the ballot box last November, Rural America voted for a President who could deliver real results and reverse the significant declines in the farm economy. And we got one. President Trump’s forward-looking Big Beautiful Bill is the shot in the arm Rural America needs.
The Big Beautiful Bill puts the rural economy back into focus. It delivers the largest tax cut for working- and middle-class Americans in history. It invests in domestic fuel, food, and fiber production, enabling America to rely less on foreign sources. It strengthens incentives for private sector investment in the farm economy and American-made biofuels. It also modernizes farm safety net programs, like crop insurance, to better protect against economic uncertainty and market volatility to ensure the next generation can continue farming. The agriculture industry is at the heart of the U.S. economy, generating more than $9.5 trillion in economic value.
Congress has not passed a Farm Bill since 2018. That means our nation’s farmers and ranchers are still operating under outdated policies and reference price formulas. This puts family farms at unnecessary risk, and threatens our nation’s food supply. The critical updates to several Farm Bill programs are included in the Big Beautiful Bill.
The Bill’s tax provisions are particularly noteworthy. It protects our nation’s two million family farms from excessive taxation by raising the death tax exemption. This will increase the amount that can be inherited without burdensome taxes. We should be making it easier to pass farms onto the next generation, not slapping beginning farmers with a devastating tax bill.
When farmers and rural voters propelled Donald Trump to the White House, it was because of the policies reflected in this Bill. President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill will unleash our economy for everyone, and will make Rural America Great Once Again!
